She obtained her Bachelor´s degree in Medicine at the University of Valencia (Spain) in 2002. Between 2003 and 2007 she completed her pediatric residency at the HUiP La Fe in Valencia, specializing in the field of neonatology. In 2007 she joined the Perinatal Research Group of the Health Research Institute at the Hospital La Fe (IIS La Fe) under the supervision of Dr. Máximo Vento as a research fellow, where she is currently developing her PhD. During this period, she enjoyed several foreign fellowships allowing her to work as a visiting scientist at the UCSD Medical Center in San Diego (California), the Universitätsklinikum Lübeck (Germany) and the RPA Hospital in Sydney (Australia) gaining experience in clinical research focusing on neonatal resuscitation, respiratory and haemodynamic support.

She is a member of the Respiratory Group of the Spanish Society of Neonatology since 2010. Her research has been focused on preterm neonatal resuscitation and neonatal respiratory support.

Current Research Projects

1. REOX trial: Extremely low birth weight infants resuscitation using an integrated monitoring system: study of oxygen inspiratory fraction influence (PI).

2. PRESOX trial: Extremely low gestational age neonates randomly assigned to be blindly resuscitated with 21% vs. 60% oxygen: influence upon mortality and chronic conditions in the neonatal period (co-PI).

3. ACCEX trial: Risk factors associated with accidental extubations. A multicenter trial (PI).

4. SONSURE trial: Prospective evaluation of a minimal invasive technique for surfactant administration (PI).
