She obtained her Bachelor´s degree in Medicine at the University of Valencia (Spain) in 2003. Between 2004 and 2008 she completed her pediatric residency at the HUiP La Fe in Valencia, specializing in the field of neonatology. During 2008 she enjoyed a foreign fellowship at the Georgetown University Hospital (Washington DC, USA) gaining experience in clinical research, she also spent two months at the Leiden University Medical Center (Leiden, Netherkand). In October 2008 she obtained a grant from the Health Research Institute of the University and Polytechnic Hospital La Fe (ISS La Fe) and joined the Perinatal Research Group of the IIS La Fe under the supervision of Dr. Máximo Vento as a research fellow.

Her research has been focused on preterm neonatal resuscitation and neonatal respiratory support.


Current Research Projects

1. REOX trial: Extremely low birth weight infants resuscitation using an integrated monitoring system: study of oxygen inspiratory fraction influence (PI).

2. PRESOX trial: Extremely low gestational age neonates randomly assigned to be blindly resuscitated with 21% vs. 60% oxygen: influence upon mortality and chronic conditions in the neonatal period (co-PI).

3. ACCEX trial: Risk factors associated with accidental extubations. A multicenter trial (PI).

4. SONSURE trial: Prospective evaluation of a minimal invasive technique for surfactant administration (PI).
