She studied “Biotechnical Processes” at the University of Applied Science Wiener Neustadt/Tulln (AT). In 2007 she joined the working group on Process Analysis & Vibrational Spectroscopy at the Vienna University of Technology (AT) for her diploma thesis where she participated in the development of a portable, quantum cascade laser (QCL) based sensor system. During her PhD at the department of Analytical Chemistry at the University of Valencia (ES), her research was focused on instrumental and chemometric developments for the on-line hyphenation of liquid chromatography and infrared spectroscopy. In the course of her PhD studies she visited the Polymer Analysis group at the University of Amsterdam (NL), the working group on Process Analysis & Vibrational Spectroscopy at the Vienna University of Technology (AT) and the Laboratory for Bioanalytical Spectroscopy at the University of Manchester (UK) gaining experience in the fields of separation sciences, vibrational spectroscopy and multivariate data analysis. Since February 2012 she shares her expertise in mass spectrometry and multivariate statistics for the analysis of bioanalytical data to support our research projects and clinical studies.


Most relevant research projects

1. HYPOTOP & ALBINO trials:
Multicenter, randomized, double blinded, placebo-controlled clinical trials studying the use of early moderate hypothermia in asphyxiated newborns with moderate to severe hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE) in combination with a drug vs. placebo.

2. BetterMilk & Pre-Milk: Two studies focused on the investigation of the influences of lifestyle and environmental pollution on the quality of human milk (own mothers milk and donated human milk) and the impact on term and preterm newborns.

3. Piglet model: In collaboration with the Oslo University Hospital we use the neonatal piglet model of postnatal hypoxia for studying the mechanisms of hypoxia-ischemia on the metabolic level in search of new biomarkers useful for diagnosis and staging of HIE patients, monitoring of the individual therapeutic response, personalized optimization of therapeutic intervention and prediction of long-term clinical outcomes.
